Klaus Hubacek is an ecological economist and Professor in Science, Technology and Society in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. He is the director of the Energy and Sustainability Research Institute Groningen (ESRIG). His research focuses on conceptualizing and modeling interactions between human and environmental systems. Klaus has published over 400 research articles and is recognized as a highly cited researcher with multiple papers in several disciplines in the top 1% by citations every year since 2018. Klaus’s research has been funded by national agencies in Europe, China, Japan, and the U.S., as well as by international institutions such as the World Bank, WWF, and Greenpeace. Klaus is a lead author in the current assessment of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
