Dr. Marianne Beisheim is Senior Associate at Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP), German Institute for International and Security Affairs, in Berlin, Germany. Her focus is on the governance of sustainable development, with an academic background in political science and international relations. She is an expert on the follow-up and review processes of the UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development. Dr. Beisheim is a member of the Independent Group of Scientists for the UN’s 2027 Global Sustainable Development Report (GSDR). Since prior to the Rio+20 Conference on Sustainable Development in 2012, her research has concentrated on the (proposed) SDGs, which subsequently became part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Previously, she was Assistant Professor of International Relations at Freie Universität Berlin, where she led a DFG-funded academic research project on multi-stakeholder partnerships for sustainable development.
