
Bart van den Hurk
Deltares & IPCC Working Group II Co-Chair
Bart van den Hurk obtained his PhD at Wageningen University on the physical modeling of the land surface component of the climate system. At the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute, he worked on the development of national climate scenarios and led the weather and climate modeling research section. Since 2019, he has worked at Deltares as a senior climate expert. At the Vrije Universiteit, he holds a part-time professorship, where he conducts research into optimal formats for delivering climate change information to support societal decision-making processes. He has led a number of multidisciplinary national and international research programs and has served as Research Director at Deltares since 2021. Since 2023, he has been appointed IPCC Co-Chair of Working Group 2 in the 7th Review Cycle.
